Advent is the beginning of the church year. For many Christian churches it is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for celebrating the Christmas birth of Jesus and the return of Jesus at the Second Coming. (Advent is a version of the Latin word meaning “coming”.) Advent is about the preparation for the coming of Christ by nesting Hope, making Peace, sharing Joy, and manifesting Love in the world.
