Prelude: “O Come, All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fidelis)” arr. Charles Callahan
Welcoming & Call to Worship
Minister: I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
All: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favours!
Carol: “O Come, All Ye Faithful”VU 60
Lighting the Advent and Christ Candles
One: On the last four Sundays, we have lit Advent candles: hope, peace, joy, and love in anticipation and preparation for the coming King.
Tonight is the night for which we have been waiting. The Advent wreath is completed with the Christ candle in the center.
God came into the world so that none would live in darkness.
All: Glory to God in the highest!
One: The light shines in the darkness
All: and the darkness does not overcome it.
One: This is the good news for all people: to us is born a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.
All And things will never be the same.
One: The world has been transformed.
All: It is made new with hope, peace, joy and love.
One: Let us pray:
All: Source of light, shine in our lives and in your world with your transforming power. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

Minister: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4 in him was life,[a] and the life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (John 1:1-5)
