Welcoming & Call to Worship

Minister: I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord.

Lighting the Advent and Christ Candles

One: In the last four Sundays, we’ve lit Advent candles: hope, peace, joy, and love in anticipation and preparation for the coming King.

Tonight, is the night for which we have been waiting.

The Advent wreath is completed with the Christ candle in the center. God came into the world so that none would live in darkness.

All: Glory to God in the highest!

One: The light shines in the darkness

All: and the darkness does not overcome it.

One: This is the good news for all people: to us is born a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

All And things will never be the same.

One: The world has been transformed.

All: It is made new with hope, peace, joy and love.

One: Let us pray:

All: Source of light, shine in our lives and in your world with your transforming power. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

Carol: “Once in Royal David’s City” VU 62
