Instrumental Measures with Michael Jantzen and Jennie Bice

Recording of the In Person Concert of Michael on Guitar with Jennie on Violin

About the Michael Jantzen and Jennie Bice

Fraser Valley recording artist, Michael Jantzen, carves out his own space between folk and country. He has a gift for weaving introspection into poetic narrative and stick-in-your head melodies. Combining his nuanced baritone and delicate guitar playing, he creates a distinct and inviting brand of roots music infused with west coast imagery, faith and personal stories.

Michael is joined by fiddler extraordinaire, Jennie Bice, who has been making her indelible mark on the Canadian music scene for over two decades, highly in demand as an accompanist in numerous bands and as a studio musician. With her uncanny ear for crafting the perfect melodic tapestry, she elevates songs to places so beautiful it’s surreal.

Together with their band, Roads Unknown, Michael and Jennie won the 2020 Fraser Valley Music Award for best roots group of the year. Whether performing as a duo or with the full band, their songs, stories and playful banter leave hearts warmed and drawn to appreciate the beauty around them.
