“Come and See!”

Based on John 1:35-51 – Jesus Says Come and See

God called us by name, asking us to follow Jesus and obey. In this new year, we once again commit ourselves to follow and obey Jesus as we invite others to come and follow him.

Order of Worship Service | January 2th, 2022

Prelude: “As With Gladness Men of Old”, arr. John Leavitt

Welcoming & Candle lighting

Christ Candle Lighting (from John 1:1-5)

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made;

without him nothing was made that has been made.

In him was life, and that life was the light of all people.

The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness has not overcome it.

Global Concern Candle Lighting: (excerpt from Isaiah 60:1-6)

This is God’s promise to all people declared through the prophet Isaiah:

Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,

but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

Lift up your eyes and look about you.

Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy.

And all will come, from the East, South, West and North,

bearing gifts and proclaiming the praise of the Lord.

Let us pray together (VU 80)

O God, our light, our beauty, our rest.

With the appearance of your Son

You have brought us into your new creation.

Form us into your people, and order our lives in you,

Through Christ, the Living One. Amen.
