Prayers of the People for Epiphany 5, 2015
God of the joyful heart, we give you thanks for the companionship of this, our faith community; for the faithfulness of Jesus and his disciples who teach us how to follow and to lead.
For your immeasurable generosity and the goodness you bestow on us, we pray together: Gracious God, hear our prayer and in your love answer.
God of the listening heart, we pray for those who find the strain and pace of life too much; for those who have lost confidence in themselves; for those obliged to slow down because of ill health or increasing year; for those with too much to do and those with too little; and for all who are worn down in body or in mind by the burdens they carry, we pray together: Gracious God, hear our prayer and in your love answer.
Dear God, bless the work of all those who are bringing aid to the troubled parts of our world. We think of places where allegiance to terrorism has run amok, where unnecessary loss of life paves the way for unnecessary pain and heartache to be born and the seeds of suspicion and hatred to be sown.
God, help us learn to find ways to truly love our neighbor and to accept the challenge of offering grace in courage and in faith and we pray together:
Gracious God, hear our prayer and in your love answer.
Be with us in the coming week, we pray, that as we are aware of your presence, we will hear and heed your voice wherever You call us. All this and more we give over to you in the name of Jesus, our brother and we pray: Gracious God, hear our prayer and in your love answer.
Knowing that God hears all our prayers held silently in our hearts or offered aloud, we pray together the Alternate Prayer of Jesus as printed in the bulletin.
These prayers have been compiled by Rev. Liz with adaptations.
