Sunday Worship, Now Live & Online – Epiphany 3
Guest Speaker
Who Is in the Boat with You?
Matthew 8:23–27 tells the story of Jesus calming the storm. It is a miracle story we are very familiar with, but also one that is often weakened or overlooked. The ultimate lesson of this story is not that Jesus will calm every storm in your life, nor does it promise that Jesus will always bring you safely to every destination you set for yourself. Instead, the calming of the storm on the Sea of Galilee first and foremost reveals who Jesus truly is, that is, the very nature of Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is truly man and truly God. And it is from this truth that deep and lasting comfort flows into our lives.
Throughout Epiphany, we see Jesus stepping into ordinary places and meeting people exactly where they are — often before they are ready or aware. Each Gospel story reveals a fresh beginning as Jesus invites us to follow Him in real time, opening our eyes to what God is quietly doing in and around us.
