It’s about discovering the heart of the Gospel and how it fits into our everyday lives—like finding the right apps for your soul. Let’s unpack stories of doubts, encounters, and love that don’t just stay in the Bible but walk with us every day.

Happy Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day, started by Anne Jarvis, is a day historically set aside to honour moms everywhere for all of the things they do for families. When Anne Jarvis first began the tradition, she had her whole church congregation wear white carnations during the service in honour of her mother.
A Little About Pentecost
Pentecost Sunday
Celebrating:
• the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
• the birth of the Church
• the beginning of a new Season of the Church Year!
Dates: May 19, 2024
Pentecost is celebrated on a Sunday 50 days after Easter (counting Easter Sunday), or seven weeks (seven times seven) not counting Easter Sunday.
Meaning of Name:
Pentecost comes from the Greek word pentēkostē meaning “50th” (day). Pentecost is a reference to the Jewish festival Shavuot or the Festival of Weeks, which is held on the 50th day after the second day of Passover. This festival celebrates the giving of the Torah to the Israelites at Mount Sinai.
In Acts 2, it is said that the disciples had gathered on the day of Pentecost, or the day of the festival of Shavuot. That’s when the wind and fire and Spirit came!
Liturgical Colour: Red
Red is a primary colour and a warm colour. It symbolizes fire, spirit, energy, passion, strength, power, intensity, courage, and determination. It draws to mind the flames dancing over the disciples and friends of Jesus gathered in the upper room on the day of Pentecost.

Updates on Knox’s
Strategic (Ministry) Plan
If you attended Knox’s ACM in February, you had a chance to hear about (and vote on) Knox’s Strategic Plan. Sometimes also called a Ministry Plan, this plan is being developed to keep us focused and efficient while we strive to live out God’s vision for us with smaller budgets and an aging congregation.
During the ACM, the Knox congregation voted on 5 goals — 2 of which are administrative, and which will be mostly handled by staff members and relevant teams. The other 3 goals are vision and spirit led, and will enliven our life at Knox while we navigate the realities of living in the southwest corner of Vancouver in this post-pandemic time. READ MORE
