All Saints Day honors all Saints of the Church, whether known of unknown, beginning as a feast in the 9th century. It was extended to modern day by western Christianity.

The reason for this celebration is to remember and honour all Christians who have lived holy lives and are now in God’s presence. Fostering a sense of communion between the living, the saints in heaven, and the departed faithful. Traditionally remembering loved ones and decorating graves.
