Title: “The Jonah Syndrome and Choose Life and Hope with a Grateful Heart”

Text: Jonah 3: 10-4:11; Philippians 1: 21-30; Matthew 20: 1-16

Synopsis: The Jonah Syndrome exists in us whenever we are unable to embrace the belief that the grace of God is for all people. Our mission is to share a message of love, new life, and hope eternal with everyone we meet. Jonah’s story is an excellent example of negative hope, nonacceptance of the life that God freely gives everyone. Choosing Life and Hope with a Grateful Heart are wonderful words to being a message with. Scripture is challenging us to find joy, hope, and new life in the good, bad, and ugly times of life. God offers us life and hope with grace at all times.

Title: “I Changed My Mind and Heart’ and ‘Impersonators and Imitators”

Text: Matthew 21: 23-32; Philippians 2: 1-13

Synopsis: In I Changed my Mind and Heart an outcast widow tells of her encounter with Jesus in the temple when he was being asked by chief priests about his authority to do the things that he did. His response was talking about changes to the religious establishment and a story of two sons. Jesus asks us to be transformed and tells us we belong to God’s kingdom as followers of the Word. As disciples of Christ, we are called to be ‘Imitators’ of Christ, and to live in a way that allows other people to SEE Christ in us. ‘Impersonators’ make people believe they are who they are not. Imitators strive to reflect the person they look up to, in this case Jesus. Paul invites us to adopt Christ-like attitudes in all aspects of our life.

Synopsis: On the first Sunday, we inspire the congregation to release the past and welcome the potential for renewal. We delve into Isaiah’s words, encouraging us to disregard the past and witness the novel deeds God is enacting.

Text: Isaiah 42:9

Synopsis: On this Sunday, our focus shifts to reimagining our future through God’s perspective. Referencing Isaiah’s prophecy, we emphasize God’s promise of bringing about new elements, even amidst challenging circumstances.

Title: “Restoration: A Journey of Hope”

Text: Isaiah 11:1

Synopsis: On this Pledge Sunday, we delve into the theme of restoration, drawing from Isaiah 11, which portrays a fresh shoot emerging from a seemingly dead tree trunk. We motivate our congregation to rejuvenate their perspectives, accepting the hopeful possibility that something new is budding from the ashes of the past.
